Why Lynnwood Homes Near the Water Get So Many Webs

Lake Serene, Scriber Lake, Martha Lake and the creeks around Perrinville all breed insects, and spiders build where the insects are. From late summer into October, homes near the water and the wooded edges see the most webs. Spider control in Lynnwood starts outside.

Two Lynnwood Spiders People Worry About

Both look alarming, so they are worth knowing on sight. Neither is a danger, and the Burke Museum is clear that house spiders pose no significant danger to people or pets.

Harmless

A big, chunky orb-weaver with two bumps that look like ears. It builds its web on eaves, porch lights and fences in late summer and fall. Harmless, just big.

Harmless

Dark, round and glossy, but no red hourglass. It lives indoors in quiet corners, garages and around light fixtures. It is a house spider, and house spiders pose no significant danger.

"The spiders are finding another place to live besides all over our house now! Owen did a great job explaining how their service repels unwanted pests and hours later the house was web and spider free. I highly recommend their friendly service."

"I'm a new Pure Guard customer, but I was very impressed by their expertise and customer service in their first two visits to my home. I appreciated the time they took to explain how they control pests without causing secondary exposure to other animals and predators. Pure in their name means something. I feel like I'm receiving value for the dollars I'm paying."

Questions, answered

Lynnwood Spider Control Questions

Why Are There So Many Spiders Near Lake Serene and Scriber Lake?

Water and woods mean lots of insects, and spiders set up where the food is. Homes near Lynnwood's lakes, creeks and wooded edges see a real orb-weaver season from late summer into October, with webs on every eave and porch light.

Is the Shiny Black Spider in My Garage a Black Widow?

In Lynnwood it is far more likely a false black widow, which is dark and glossy but has no red hourglass. Black widows are rare on this side of the Cascades. If you are not sure, a photo helps us know what to expect, and we treat garages either way.

Do I Need to Know What Kind of Spider It Is?

No. Even arachnologists at the Burke Museum say a hobo spider takes a microscope to identify. What matters for treatment is where the spiders are living and what they are eating, and that is what we look at.

What Does a Spider Visit Include?

Clearing webs and egg sacs by hand from the eaves, porch lights, windows, rails, foundation and garage, then treating those spots and the entry points so they do not rebuild as quickly. We walk you through what goes where before we start.

How Much Does Spider Control Cost in Lynnwood?

Most spider work is part of a regular exterior program, priced on the size of the house and whether you need inside work too. We give you the number before we start.

Is It Safe Around My Pets?

Yes. There is a veterinary clinic in the family, so we are careful. We use products rated for occupied homes and apply them where spiders live, not across your floors or lawn.
