Hobo spider
These are brown, fast, and stay low, building funnel webs in basements, crawl spaces, and against foundations. People have argued about how toxic the bite really is for years, and we treat for them either way.
Giant house spider
These are big and intimidating and the fastest spider in North America, mostly harmless but unwelcome in most homes. You'll see them in basements and garages, especially in fall when the males come inside looking for mates.
Common house spider
These are the ones spinning tangled cobwebs in corners, behind furniture, and in basements. They're harmless, but the cobwebs build up fast and are most of what people actually want gone.
Orb-weaver spiders
These are the ones that string a big wheel-shaped web across your walkway overnight, usually right where you walk into it face-first in the morning. They're harmless and they eat a lot of other insects, but by September the webs are everywhere, so most of what we do for them is knocking the webs down and treating the eaves, porch lights, and rails they anchor to.

Inspect and identify
We walk the foundation, eaves, basement, and crawl space. Spiders cluster around food sources and harborage. Find those, you find the spiders.
Knock down webs and egg sacs
Physical removal of webs and sacs around the exterior. Treatment alone does not undo the visible problem. We knock them down by hand.
Targeted treatment
Pet- and family-safe products applied to baseboards, corners, foundation perimeter, and crawl-space access points. Reduces the spider population and the insects spiders feed on.

The two we treat most are the giant house spider and the hobo spider, which look similar. Most bites are far less serious than their reputation, but they are unsettling to have indoors. We treat for both, plus general web abatement. Black widows do turn up occasionally west of the Cascades, but they are genuinely rare here, and the big spider in your porch web in September is almost always a harmless orb-weaver.
How much does spider control cost?
Most spider work is part of a quarterly exterior program rather than a one-time visit, since the pressure comes back with the seasons. We price it on the size of the home and whether you need interior work too, and we give you the number before we start.
How do I keep spiders out for good?
There is no one-and-done, because spiders keep coming as long as there are insects to eat near the house. The realistic answer is a regular exterior treatment that keeps both the spiders and their food in check, plus de-webbing so new activity is easy to spot. Cutting outdoor lighting and trimming shrubs off the siding helps too.
Why does my house get so many spider webs?
Spiders follow their food. Exterior lights, eaves, and shrubs near the house draw insects, and the spiders set up where the insects gather. We treat the exterior and knock down existing webs so they have to start over somewhere else.
Does spider treatment include knocking down the webs?
Yes. We de-web the eaves, corners, and entryways as part of the service, then treat so they do not rebuild as quickly. Clearing the webs also makes it obvious whether new activity is showing up between visits.
