Every city has its own pest profile. Lake Stevens has the lake (mosquitoes

(carpenter ants and crawl-space work), and enough mature trees to keep wasp
and hornet activity steady through summer.
The older houses off Vernon Road and around Hartford have had decades of wet winters soaking into rim joists, window framing and deck ledgers, and softened wood is exactly where carpenter ants set up. The first sign is usually large black ants indoors in spring, or fine sawdust under a window. We find the parent colony, often outside in a stump or woodpile, treat it and every satellite nest we trace, and point out the moisture that invited them so it gets fixed too.
